Getting tagged in Slack

Everyday work
What the platform posts to your Slack channel, and what it does not.

If your company has switched it on, the platform posts a copy of each notification into your team's Slack channel and tags the person it belongs to.

What a message says

  • Who it is for, tagged so it reaches them.
  • What happened — assigned to you, or overdue.
  • The ticket type, the customer's name, the description, the due date, and how the ticket was created.
  • A link back to the ticket here.

**Your Slack member ID** goes on your profile on the Users page. Without it you are still named in the message, you just are not tagged — so you will not get the notification on your phone.

Worth knowing

  • Everyone in that Slack channel can read these, and can find them later by searching Slack.
  • They show up in phone notification previews, which appear on a locked screen.
  • Slack keeps them under Slack's own retention rules, not this platform's.
The bell in here never depends on Slack. If Slack is down, switched off, or was never set up, your notifications still arrive normally — the Slack copy is an extra, never the delivery.
